Sample itinerary
Day 1: Jeddah - Madinah
Travel by train from Jeddah to Madinah, where a local host will meet you on arrival. Settle into the city with Arabic coffee and maamoul dates before an evening dinner overlooking Mount Uhud, with time to begin absorbing the particular atmosphere of one of Islam’s two holiest cities.
Day 2: The Sacred City
Explore Madinah on foot with a private local guide, beginning around the Prophet’s Mosque and the places connected to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and early Islamic history. The afternoon is left open for prayer, a Rawdah visit or time around the Haram, followed by visits to Uhud and other significant sites.
Day 3: History, Calligraphy & Reflection
Travel to the battlefield of Badr before returning to Madinah. Visit the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Global Center for Arabic Calligraphy and take part in a private calligraphy masterclass. Depending on opening times, the day may also include Gharss Well or the King Fahd Glorious Qur’an Printing Complex.
Day 4: Madinah - Makkah
Take the high-speed train to Makkah and settle into your hotel before performing Umrah with a specialist local guide. ROAM’s Umrah support includes step-by-step guidance through the pilgrimage, an Umrah kit and a commemorative certificate featuring a vintage illustration of Makkah.
Day 5: The Places Around Umrah
Spend the morning with a local guide visiting places connected to Hajj and Islamic history, including Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah, alongside Mount Thawr and Jabal Al-Noor. After lunch, there is time to perform a second Umrah or remain at leisure, with your local host available if needed.
Day 6: Makkah - Jeddah
Drive from Makkah to Jeddah and spend the afternoon walking through Al Balad with a private guide. Look closely at the old city’s architecture and galleries, including Beit Nassif from the outside, and taste something of Jeddah’s local food before an evening at leisure.
Day 7: Onward Journey
After breakfast, transfer to the airport or station for the journey home. For those wishing to stay longer, the itinerary leaves open the possibility of continuing elsewhere in Saudi Arabia.
